Sam Allardyce will be confirmed as Newcastle United manager next week.
The Evening Chronicle says chances are that United will unveil the former Bolton Wanderers manager at a press conference at St James' Park.
And this even though former England coach Sven-Goran Eriksson and ex-Liverpool boss Gerard Houllier have made it clear they would love to move into the hotseat at St James' Park.
A source within St James' Park said: "We've been informed that Sam Allardyce will be here by next Wednesday."
