Real Madrid are ready to offer Manchester United a mega £54 million for Cristiano Ronaldo.

The Guardian says Franco Baldini, right-hand man to Madrid's sporting director, Predrag Mijatovic, and the man who negotiates all of the club's signings, met Jorge Mendes in London last Wednesday.

Sources at Madrid claim that during the meeting, Baldini confirmed that Ronaldo is their No1 priority for next season and informed Mendes that they would be prepared to meet Manchester United's asking price for the winger - expected to be somewhere in the region of €80m (£54m). They would also be prepared to beat any contract offer made by Manchester United, matching Ronaldo's salary to that of the galacticos: €6m (£4m) a year, after tax.

Ronaldo's wage demands on a new United contract are believed to be in the region of £140,000 a week.

Madrid also insist that Mendes has reassured them that Ronaldo will force an exit from Old Trafford, although a second meeting with Sir Alex Ferguson is expected in the next 10 days.

That's madness, he`s not worth that !

Id rather RM spent that on rebuilding the squad and buying 2-3 class players.

If RM end up paying that i'm gonna start supporting Getafe !

Eeeek 54m pounds?? For a weeping boy?

I can see two or three quality players with that amount but well sometimes I was amazed and concerned about Madrid's policies in signing players but well every club have their own ways Tongue

I don't believe anyone is worth 54m pounds to be honest. But if anyone is, Ronaldo has to be one of them at the moment. Not that he is for sale Smile.

Besides he has signed a new contract keeping him at OT till 2012 Wink. Thats confirmation that he isn't leaving the club and is happy here, if anyone needed confirmation. Madrid can go on with their bullshit, Ronaldo isn't leaving United period.

Its good that he signed a new contract at Man united.he isnt worth 54 million. i want Madrid to buy Ribery for less than 1/3rd of that amount.
Ribery on right and Robinho on left would be class
